My Surprise (And photos of my wedding bouquet)

After our wedding, we stayed the night in an ocean-front room at the resort where our reception was. We didn't have car, so my dad picked me up in the morning while Pete met his dad for breakfast and caught a ride home with him later.

We made sure to grab my dress, his suit, our overnight bags, a tote bag that I had brought for items we needed for the reception, a cooler of beer that Pete's friends had dropped off that morning, our dinner that was packaged because we didn't eat at the reception... but left behind were my wedding bouquet and vase.

Pete called the hotel as soon as we were both home and realized my wedding bouquet wasn't with us. The staff went to our room, but it wasn't there.

I started crying. I wanted the bouquet to preserve, to photograph, to add petals to Christmas ornaments and glass jars. I just wanted to look at them and enjoy them. And they were lost (honestly ... I'm convinced they were stolen after we left but I don't have any proof of that).

And today, while Pete was at work, there was a knock on the door. There was a delivery for Pete, but I said I would accept it. And inside was my wedding bouquet in an open box.

The flowers were delivered in the exact way that I had originally seen them in the church.

I was beaming. And then I started crying. Pete had called our florist and had them remake my bouquet. If you believe the card that Pete had sent with the flowers that said: Guess What? I found them!! then you'll believe he found the bouquet that was left behind and lost.

But I know he called the florist and they had to reorder the flowers for my bouquet (Picasso calla lilies, white roses, purple orchids, baby's breath, eucalyptus).

The bouquet is just as beautiful as on my wedding day.

I had a cascade wedding bouquet because I wanted something different. I didn't want a traditional hand bouquet. Those are so tight and rigid to me and that's just not me at all. A cascade has so much texture and movement and just stands out. It's so different and I've honestly never seen a bride with one in real life, only in photos. So I definitely wanted it.

Just a little "behind" look for those of you who haven't seen a cascade bouquet in real life. There is a handle in the back that you hold. The flowers fall down in front and completely hide the handle. You actually don't see the bride's hands at all when she is carrying the bouquet as opposed to a hand bouquet where you do.

Our colors were eggplant, lilac, and silver, so I wanted the purples in my bouquet. They were absolutely there ... both in the original bouquet and the remake.

We've been married two weeks today. We're not those people who celebrate every single anniversary, but what a surprise to celebrate two weeks.
